Finland’s first green hydrogen production plant, with a capacity of 20MW, is set to be constructed in Harjavalta. Set to be developed by P2X Solutions, the plant will mark Finland’s extension into the lucrative hydrogen market as well as producing domestic clean energy for local industries. The hydrogen produced at this 20MW plant is expected to provide green electricity for industrial applications and will additionally support industries with oxygen and thermal energy produced as a by product.
This is part of a wider aim to decarbonise the city with local industry set to benefit from the green hydrogen produced here to achieve the goal of carbon neutrality. Construction for the facility will begin in autumn 2022 with the commission the plant expected for the first half of 2024. P2X Solutions also aims to promote the Finnish hydrogen economy with several production plants and possibly also replicate projects abroad.
