{"id":18640,"date":"2020-07-23T14:36:07","date_gmt":"2020-07-23T11:36:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/vastuullisuusuutiset.fi\/?p=18640"},"modified":"2020-07-23T22:45:24","modified_gmt":"2020-07-23T19:45:24","slug":"facebook-and-instagram-to-examine-racist-algorithms","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/vastuullisuusuutiset.fi\/en\/weben\/facebook-and-instagram-to-examine-racist-algorithms\/","title":{"rendered":"Facebook and Instagram to examine racist algorithms"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"smart_content_wrapper\"><p>Facebook has acknowledged that it needs to do more to combat racism on its platforms and is setting up two groups to examine its policies and algorithms.<\/p>\n<p>Instagram&#8217;s Equity Team and Facebook&#8217;s Inclusive Product Council will look for bias in algorithms and work to make both platforms &#8221;safe and fair&#8221; for all.<\/p>\n<p>Facebook has been criticised for failure to crack down on racist groups. Others have complained about the suppression of black voices on Instagram.<\/p>\n<p>In a statement, Instagram&#8217;s vice-president of product, Vishal Shah, said: &#8221;The racial justice movement is a moment of real significance for our company.
